Rhino Ark Charitable Trust

Rhino Ark charitable trust was formed in 1988 to respond to the grave crisis facing Kenya’s Black Rhino population in the Aberdare ecosystem. The rhino were under severe threat from rampant poaching for their highly valued horn. Rhino Ark’s aim was to build a fence along sections of the Aberdare National Park on its Eastern Salient where rhino were being mercilessly poached.

The fence has brought harmony around the area and farmers now can enjoy peaceful sleep at night without fear of losing their lives, crops and homes.

Over the years, Syngenta has continually contibuted to the Rhino Ark Charitable Trust. The Trust is a public private project that will manage the Rhino Ark Aberdare Fence and play an active role in best practice management of the Aberdare Ecosystem. Syngenta East Africa has participated as one of the sponsors for their key annual event, the Rhino Charge.
